I am an Editor with over 10 years experience in broadcast television, film and branded content.
GROWING UP
I have always been drawn to filmmaking - some of my earliest memories include hijacking my dad’s video camera and cajoling family members into starring in my films, alongside various cuddly toys. This passion never left - although I hope my talent for holding a camera steady has improved!
I took a GAP year before going to University, and was lucky enough to get a runner job in The Mews Post Production house (formally DGP/Rainbow). It was here that I learnt how to use Avid, as well gained amazing insight into the world of post production.
UNIVERSITY
I studied English Literature at the University of Southampton, but arguably spent more of my time involved in the student TV society SUSUtv instead of reading! With full funding from the Union, the station had state of the art editing and filmmaking equipment, and our productions achieved national success at the NaSTAs (National Student TV Awards).
In my first year I won the NaSTA for Best Drama for my short film ‘Flat 443’. The next two years our station secured over £7500 funding for two period dramas - a Jane Austen style film ‘A Game of Sport’, and a medieval revenge 4 part drama ‘Elfrida’.
RESEARCHER TO EDITOR
After graduating with a 2:1, I pursued self-shooting researcher jobs with the aim of becoming a director. My work included ‘Gareth Malone: Sing While You Work’ (BBC), ‘The Jump’ (Channel 4), ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ (ITV), ‘Gogglesprogs’ (Channel 4). I also worked at London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Despite working on these incredible shows in studios and on location all around the world, I kept being drawn back to the world of post production, and incredible power of editing to transform a film. I eventually decided to focus solely on editing.
(Although I still shoot occasionally and have been roped into filming various productions!)
EDITING FACTUAL & SPORTS
I worked at Whisper Films as in house Assistant Editor and then Editor from 2016-19. Here I cut showreels, pitch films & taster tapes which led to new commissions, clients and awards for the company, including major successful bids for the Winter Paralympic Games on Channel 4, and Bose sponsorship of Channel 4’s Formula One coverage.
Whilst at Whisper and also freelance, my broadcast work ranges from crafting long form documentaries, to cutting fast turn-around films for sports & entertainment shows. I’ve edited programmes for BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5, as well as Amazon Prime and the Olympic Channel.
I’ve also worked with a variety of clients on online campaigns and commercials, including TV adverts for Bose and Emirates on Channel 4/All4. I’ve cut branded content for Google, Lush, Somerset House, Aston Martin, Clive Christian Luxury Perfumes and Red Bull.
EDITING HIGH END DRAMA & FILM
In 2019 I decided to focus on moving into high end Drama. I took the step back to Assistant Editor and assisted on feature film ‘Misbehaviour’, Season 4 of ‘The Crown’ and BAFTA award winning feature film ‘Belfast’.
I also edited multiple short films which were screened at various festivals, including BFI Flare and Aesthetica Short Film Festival. During the pandemic I edited various theatre shows for TV - including ‘Hymn’ for the Almeida Theatre, ‘Out West’ for the Lyric Hammersmith & ‘Constellations’ for the Donmar Warehouse.
Since then I have progressed into TV drama, cutting 2 episodes of ‘Industry’ for Bad Wolf/BBC/HBO, ‘Extraordinary’ - a new comedy series for Disney+ with Sid Gentle Films, and 3 episodes of ‘Champion’, Candice Carty-Williams’ Netflix/BBC drama.
INDUSTRY RECOGNITION
In 2018 I was featured in Broadcast Magazine as one of their ‘Hot Shots’, and was invited to join the Edinburgh TV Festival’s ‘One to Watch’ 2018 talent scheme. In 2017 I was shortlisted for Broadcast TECH Young Talent Awards 2017.
I am a BAFTA Connect member and a full member of the British Film Editors Guild.
I have my own full edit set up at home (London) with Premiere and Avid. Beyond editing, I love theatre, photography and running.
